Our Classes

The summer semester will begin on July 12th and run for 6 weeks. The fall semester will begin on Spetember 24th and run for 10 weeks. Each week, we meet for a 45-minute class that includes songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. These activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences which are developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers, regardless of their own musical ability. Songbook, CD, and  parent guide DVD are included!

Mixed Age: This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth through age five and through all nine songs collections. The basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers, grouping children of a variety of ages in one class. This approach fosters a natural, family-style learning where younger children enjoy watching and imitating the older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together.

Each child participates at his or her own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, observing, or exploring musical instruments. We welcome the whole family to join in this important family music experience; any caregivers, parents, grandparents, or nannies can bring the child(ren) to class.

Babies Only: Every child's development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together offers two options for babies ages eight months and younger. Babies are always welcome to attend a Mixed-Ages Class, whether registered on their own or attending free with an older sibling. Parents with infants may also register for the special Babies Class, which is offered as a one-semester introduction to Music Together, after which babies will attend mixed-age classes.

In a Babies Class, the music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in babies. Meet other parents of newborns and learn some fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby.
